With the tolerance of PCB drills limited to mere microns, we have developed different measuring instruments to ensure a high level of quality.

Ring Setting Machines

Union Tool manufactures a wide range of semi-automatic and automatic non-contact ring setting machines for both drills and routers down to 0.05 mm in diameter.

The RSM-M1 is a semi-automatic ring setting machine for drills with diameter 0.2 ~ 3.0 mm. A company requiring semi automatic ring-setting, but on a smaller scale can chose from the RSM-M1 and the RSM-M2. These offer the same passive setting technology as the bigger machine, but are loaded manually. RSM-M1
The RSM-4 is an automatic ring setting machine for drills and routers with diameter 0.2 ~ 3.0 mm. The Union Tool RSM-4 was the original semi-automatic ring setting machine. Repointing Machines

Union Tool manufactures a wide range of semi-automatic and automatic repointing machines for repointing drills down to 0.15 mm in diameter.
These will help to produce the maximum level of drill performance, for effective and functional use of PCB drills.

We also provide the MDP-5, which is a repointing machine for tungsten carbide drills in diameter 0.3 ~ 6.5 mm MDP-5
Union Tool’s MDP-10 is a repointing machine for tungsten carbide drills in diameter 0.2 ~ 1.0 mm. The MDP-10 utilises proprietary technology gained from manufacturing to offer a micro drill repointing solution and is particularly suited to our undercut series of drills. Used exclusively by our repoint and service partners these machines ensure point perfect reliability. MDP-10

Die & Mould Measuring Devices

Union Tool’s micro tool measuring equipment is specificially designed to deal with miniature sized tools rotating at high speeds. Spindle runout can be measured as well as the external diameter of tools. Our measuring devices also have BCD parallel data output, allowing them to be connected to external machines for easier data analysis.

Due to the non-contact function, tool tip position can be detected even during the spindle operation.

ME/EDR-D20
This contactless instrument can measure the cutter diameter and amount of runout in small diameter endmills and drills rotating at high speeds.
It can measure the amount of spindle runout using a pin gauge.
It has a BCD parallel output interface, enabling easy connection with external devices.

Applications:
Measuring dynamic runout (while rotating) of the cutting edges make it possible to enhance machining expertise in ways that improve machined forms and surface roughness, and extend tool life.

This instrument can also be used for maintenance and inspection of the spindle system of the machine.
